The Will of Allah
Let us pretend for a few minutes that we are Muslims. What is a way of dealing with what is happening in the Middle East which will not disturb our faith in Allah, the Koran and Muhammad?
The world has not recognized what happened during Desert Storm. The Allies fighting to defend the sacred cities of Mecca and Medina from a secular dictator who attempts to make his people worship him like the God-Kings of Egypt and the God-Emperors of Rome won a great victory. Going into the war, the Americans estimated they would lose 50,000 men. Later they lowered that estimate to 20,000 men. Actual losses were 149 due to enemy fire and 148 due to accidental causes. Only Allah can give such victories and why should it surprise a Muslim that Allah would give such a victory to armies defending Mecca?
If Allah chooses to use the Americans to accomplish His will then that is His choice. Who can doubt that if Saddam had been allowed to conquer Mecca he would have placed his photograph or statue in the Quabba so that all pilgrims would circle it in their prayers.
After the Americans did Allah's will, and how could such a victory in defense of Mecca be anything but an act of Allah? A madman named Usama bin Ladin chose to be outraged at American troops stationed in Saudi Arabia to defend Mecca. So deaf was he to the heart of Allah.
This madman preached Islam as a religion of hatred though Allah is the merciful, the compassionate. When the armies of Islam swept out to conquer those lands which Allah had marked as theirs, his love and compassion went before them. Before the hooves of their horses had touched the earth, before the flashing of their swords was seen his love and compassion had conquered the hearts of the lands which he had marked for their conquest. A quote from the histories of those days demonstrates this,
"When Heraclius gathered his troops against the Muslims, and the Muslims learned thta they were advancing upon them to do battle at the Yarmuk, the Muslims gave back to the peoplf of Hims the tribute which they had taken from them. They told them: "We are too preoccupied to aid and defend you. You are on your own."
But the people of Hims replied: "We prefer your rule and your justice to the oppression and injustice under which we were formerly. And we shall surely repel Heraclius army from the city with the help of your governor."
Then the Jews rose up and said: "By the Torah, Heraclius governor shall not enter the city of Hims unless we are vanquished and utterly played out."
Skipping a paragraph or two,
"When Allah caused the unbelievers to be defeated and granted victory to the Muslims, they opened the gates of their cities and sent out a festive welcome with music, and they paid the tribute." From al-Baladhuri, Futuh al Buldan e. Riwan Muhammad Ridwan.
How the Muslims taxed when Allah was with them.
"The jizya is not to be exacted from an old man who cannot work and has no resources. Neither may anything be collected of anyone who is of unsound mind." and, "No one of the ahl al-dhimma should be beaten in order to exact payment of the jizya, nor made to stand in the sun, nor should hateful things be inflicted on their bodies, or anything of that sort."

Muhammad commanded Muslims to keep faith with those who kept faith with them. There is a pact and covenant between the Jews of Medina and Muhammad. In it, it says,
"The Jews of the Banu Awf are a community with the Believers. The Jews have their religion, and the Muslims have theirs. This applies to their clients and themselves, except those who act wrongfully and sin, for they bring destruction upon themselves and their households."
It goes on,
"Faithfulness is the best protection against sin."
Lack of faith between the Jews and Muhammad in the early days seems to derive from the Rabbis attempting to turn Muhammad into their puppet and. being disappointed in not being able to control him, conspiring against him.
This was Islam when it conquered the world, showing the love and compassion of Allah in its deeds, keeping faith with those who kept faith with the servants of Allah. Allowing others the freedom to practice their religion.
This madman Usama made Islam into a religion which sought to conquer not through the manifest compassion of Allah but through fear and terror. He launched attacks against the Americans for defending Mecca from Saddam. The same Americans who had aided Islam against the USSR in Afghanistan and aided Islam against the Serbs in Kosovo.
The Americans invaded Afghanistan and lo, they had fewer casualties from the Afghani warriors than from their own carelessness, for Allah can shield a man from his enemies but a mans stupidity is his own. Who could have given such a victory to the Americans against the Afghanis who had defeated the USSR but Allah. Any who believe that such a victory could come from any other source must be fools.
Now the Americans will act again in the Middle East. Acting against Saddam who stinks in the nostrils of Allah with the stench of the God-Kings of Egypt and the God-Emperors of Rome. This Saddam who desires that the should be worshipped by his people before Allah and who makes all the Mullahs of Iraq parrot his worship.

While America acts in the Middle East as Allah wills, America will have victories as only Allah can give. These victories will fall into the hands of the Americans like fruit from the trees on Paradise fall into the hands of martyrs. If America acts other than as Allah wills in the Middle East then it will find thorny ground and desert and the victories will be hard.
Let Allah’s will be done.
